The company was founded by Fred Cattell in 1961 and traded as Cattell’s Shoe Centre. Rob joined his father in 1964 and Harry Russell in 1980. From 1961 when we started, we grew to have 3 branches in the shoe retail industry. We closed all the retail branches in 2002 and took the decision to concentrate on the industrial footwear market, in which we have been trading in, for the past 21 years. In 1989 Cattell’s started selling Industrial footwear to the industries in Springs, over the next few years the industrial business flourished and today we have grown to become the largest independent distributor of safety footwear in South Africa, having only one branch in Springs on the East Rand. We pride ourselves in giving our customers (who become our friends) excellent service and competitive pricing which we are well known for. Our target area is the East Rand, East of Johannesburg: We also have customers further a field who enjoy the same attention and service. Our stocks holdings are large and it is seldom that we cannot assist our clients.
With a combined experience of 75 years in the shoe trade we take pride in offering excellent service and competitive pricing keeping the footwear trade moving at a fast pace. Please contact Harry or myself to get professional advice for all your needs in the safety footwear. If we are not available our competent sales team will assist you and if they are stumped they will get back to you with the appropriate answers
